ALL-REGION ORCHESTRA
What is All-Region?
The TMEA Region 24 All-Region Orchestra is a prestigious orchestra comprised of the top orchestra students in Frisco, McKinney, Prosper and the surrounding areas. All-Region is an opportunity for students to prepare difficult orchestral material, and set long-term goals to practice and perform for a panel of judges. Successful students show incredible determination, work-ethic, and practice habits. Because this is a highly competitive event, few students will be selected for the orchestras. Making an orchestra is much less important than the skills you'll obtain in preparing the music.

Audition Requirements:
There are two orchestras that students may audition for: Concert (6th/7th grade) and Chamber/Sinfonia (6th/7th/8th grade). These two
auditions are separated by skill level. Students that choose the Concert audition can only make the Concert orchestra. While still at a high level, this music is generally "easier". Make no mistake - making the Concert orchestra is still an immense task.

The Chamber/Sinfonia audition is the "harder" packet. Students that choose this audition should be practicing, at minimum, 1 hour daily. This is the most competitive audition in the area - happy practicing!

-Non-beginner 6th grader and 7th graders - audition for Concert Orchestra.
-6th/7th graders that have previously made the Concert orchestra
-6th/7th grade students that have not made the Concert orchestra should not audition for Chamber/Sinfonia
-8th Graders MUST audition for Chamber/Sinfonia
All students are encouraged to participate in the All-Region process.
All students in Chamber/Symphonic Orchestra are expected to participate in the All-Region process.

Audition Tips:
Start your preparation ASAP! Every day that goes by without practice on the music, lessens your chances!

Nothing should be planned on the day of auditions, except All-Region Auditions. Please do not schedule a private lesson, go to an athletic practice or do anything that might cause you to be late or absent. Showing up late to your audition time will mean you lose the opportunity to make the All-Region orchestra until the following year.
Auditions are "blind" meaning that the selected judges will not be able to see you. They are sitting behind a curtain, while the rest of the students wait for their turn to play the music.
Audition results will be given on the Monday following the audition. Please do not email or contact the director for the results, and please do not hang around the audition facility for results as nothing will be posted that day.
If you are selected to be a member of the All-Region Orchestra, you will be responsible for attending ALL rehearsals and the concert which is listed on the Contract Form. If you know that you will not be able to attend, please speak with an orchestra director.
